What is the Stork's Nest?
The Stork's Nest is a free community based program that promotes healthy behaviors during pregnancy and infancy by providing education and incentives.
Who is eligible?
- All Boone county families regardless of income levels
- Pregnant women and families with children 18 months and younger
How does the Stork's Nest work?
The Stork's Nest participants earn points towards incentives by participating in a variety of positive health promoting activities, such as:
- Prenatal care appointments
- Prenatal education classes
- Immunizations and well-baby care check ups
- Community resources, agencies and other related services
- Local health and safety education classes such as CPR certification
- Counseling services as needed, including family, individual, substance abuse or smoking cessation
Once points are accumulated, the participant has the opportunity to shop at the Stork's Nest store on the first and third Tuesday of each month to redeem their points for necessary items that include but are not limited to:
- Diapers and wipes
- Formula and baby food
- Bottles and sippi cups
- Car seats and strollers
- Cribs, mattresses and pack-n-plays
- High chairs, booster seats, bouncy seats and swings
- Clothing
- And many more items

Hours:
The Stork’s Nest is open each month during the following hours and days:
- Daytime Hours: 3rd Tuesday from 11:30 - 12:30
- Evening Hours: 1st Tuesday, an educational meeting from 5:30 - 6:30, then store from 6:30 - 7:30
