Immunizations

Home Care Services of Boone County Hospital

• Provided to children who do not have insurance or whose insurance does not cover the total cost of immunizations.
• Available for ages 6 weeks through 18 years
• Vaccine is provided by the Iowa Department of Public Health through the Vaccines for Children program
• Donations are accepted for administration and record keeping

Child Immunization Monthly Schedule:

Several immunization clinics are offered monthly at the Home Care office, 105 S. Marshall, Boone.
Clinic times are available mornings, afternoons and evening hours.

Important Vaccines for Infants and Children:

Vaccine	Protects Against
Hepatitis B Months 2,4,& 6	Hepatitis B virus which causes liver damage
HIB Months 2 & 4	Haemophilus Influenza B which causes brain infection and damage
DTP or DtaP Months 2,4,6,15 Years 4-6	Diphtheria (serious breathing problems that can lead to paralysis and heart failure), Pertussis (whooping cough) and Tetanus (causes painful muscle spasms leading to lockjaw).
Polio Months 2,4,6,15 Years 4-6	Polio which is a virus that can paralyze arms, legs, and breathing.
MMR Month 12 Years 4-6	Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (Rubela is "German Measles" that can lead to birth defects).
Varicella Month 12	Chicken Pox.
Prevnar Months 2,4,6,15	Pneumonia & meningitis
Hepatitis A Months 12,18	Hepatitis A is a virus that causes liver damage
