Safety Seats

97% of child safety seats in Iowa are installed/used improperly. All children up to 4 feet 9 inches and 80 pounds need to be restrained in a child restraint seat rather than just a seatbelt. Anyone who provides transportation to children needing safety seats can call to talk or schedule an appointment with one of our two Child Passenger Safety Technicians. Boone County will be holding Car Seat Safety Checks at the following dates & locations.

Central Iowa SafeKids Coalition is able to provide education to families or child care providers on the use of child safety seats. You may contact Helen McKay at 800-390-5293 or Kaycee Robinson at 800-890-8230 with questions. Below are some basic facts about proper child safety seat usage.
